We enjoy many freedoms and rights as Canadian citizens.  Not every form of government allows citizens to have so many rights and freedoms.

Usually, the rights and freedoms of citizens is a result of a democratic form of government.  If we don't like the way a government is operating, we can vote in another one.

What if you don't have a say in who your government is?  How might this affect your rights and freedoms?

Find out what rights and freedoms the citizens in the country you chose have.  * It will be easier to locate information by typing the right and freedom in the search bar.  For example, type "freedom of expression in ______".  The results will be easier for you to understand.

Does the country have a constitution?

Does your country respect the UN's Declaration of Human Rights?

Use the worksheet below to compare and/or contrast the rights and freedoms in Canada and the country you are investigating.
