Assignment: Foodborne Illness Poster

You will be creating a WANTED poster for a foodborne illness for this assignment.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is mandated to safeguard Canada's food supply and the plants and animals upon which safe and high-quality food depends. Below is a list of common foodborne illnesses with CFIA links. Click through the different illnesses and choose one for your poster. 

  • Campylobacter jejuni
  • Clostridium botulinum
  • Clostridium perfringens
  • Cronobacter
  • Cyclospora
  • E. coli O157:H7
  • Hepatitis A and E
  • Listeria monocytogenes
  • Marine Toxins in Bivalve Shellfish
  • Norovirus
  • Salmonella
  • Scombroid Poisoning
  • Shigella
  • Vibrio

When you make your poster, remember that these pathogens are dangerous and can kill people. Be creative in creating your WANTED poster! You can make your poster using a digital tool(s) and/or by hand. Submit your work as a PDF. If you do it by hand, make sure the photo you take allows your teacher to clearly read your information.

Your poster should include each of the following:
1. Name of the pathogen (disease-causing organism)
2. Aliases of the pathogen or disease
3. Symptoms of the disease
4. Types of foods the pathogen can be found in
5. Prevention or treatment of the disease
6. Coloured drawings/photos of the pathogen
7. BE SURE TO REFERENCE YOUR INFORMATION AND PHOTOS!
