Review Systemic Racism
"On June 21, 2021, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act received Royal Assent and came into force in Canada. This Act provides a roadmap for the Government of Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples to work together to implement the Declaration based on lasting reconciliation, healing, and cooperative relations. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is about the respect and recognition of the human rights of Indigenous peoples." Read the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and choose one or two of the rights to think deeply about.
Write a 1-page reflection on systemic racism where you introduce an example you have found in the news that clashes with your chosen UNDRIP article. Consider how your example of systemic racism clashes with your UNDRIP article. What could be done to fix the issue? Who is responsible for correcting the issue? You are expected to have a reference list and in-text citations along with your direct quotes. Remember always use MLA formatting.
You can search the internet for news stories that fit with your UNDRIP article or you can review this website for some ideas: There's no Racism in Canada- A Timeline
