Unit 1 Early Humans
Learning Objectives
In this unit, students are expected to learn about the following:
- the early origins of humans in Africa and our migration out of Africa to the rest of the world
- the increasingly sophisticated use of tools made from stone, bone and other materials
- the shift of human beings from a nomadic way of life of hunter-gatherers to a more settled, agrarian way of life
In addition, students are expected to increasingly work on these core skills in social studies:
- asking questions and gathering evidence to answer them
- interpreting and analyzing ideas
- assessing the significance of events at certain times
