2.1 The Health Components of Fitness and Benefits of Physical Activity and Exercise

You need to show you understand how involvement in activities can develop all five components of fitness and you need to analyze and select the most important benefits of regular physical activity.

Assessment: Total of 9 marks

  • 4 marks – Accurately assessed and explained how the activity-based health components of fitness are influenced by four or more activities, exercises, or sports you are involved in (4 = exceeds, 3 = fully meets, 2 = minimally meets, 1 = doesn’t meet expectations)
  • 5 marks – Given five important benefits of physical activity and exercise.

Submission Options:

  • Attach a computer document using the dropbox provided.
  • Scan and attach the assignment as one big .pdf file.
  • Drop your work off with your teacher. (Also a great idea, but more difficult to return.)
  • If no other way works, pull out your phone and take pictures. (Make them good pictures; then embed them all into a single word document.)

If you have a new scanner and are trying to figure out the best way to scan your work for submission, here are some tips:

  • Paper Size: 8.5 x 11 inches (most typical - or can re-size later)
  • Colour Format: Grayscale (keeps file smaller than colour, yet still clear)
  • File Type: PDF (best), or JPG (if PDF isn't available)
  • Resolution: 150 or 200 (can use 300 if small details don't show with 150/200)
