The scenario
Your parents are going to send you to stay with family for the summer break.
One side of your family are traditional hunter-gatherers who live a simple life in a village of about 50 people. The forest around them provides everything that they need. Everyone in the village knows how to make everything that they use, including their huts, pottery cooking vessels and wooden spoons.
The other side of your family are homesteaders who run a farm that provides for all of their needs. They live as an extended family in a farmhouse without any electricity or modern conveniences. They barter grain for goods and services that they get from local specialists in town.
Write a letter in which you explain to your parents where you have decided to spend the summer. You must give several reasons behind why you decided the way you did and must also show that you gave careful consideration to the other side.
This will be marked out of 16 according to the rubric below.
