4.2 Who Am I?

For this assignment, you will create a small poster, document, slide show/powerpoint, infographic, selfie art, or word art that shows your identity.

STEP ONE: Planning: Brainstorm ideas and words that show your identity for each of the following areas. You can do this on your own lined paper or you can PRINT THIS DOCUMENT or you can TYPE IDEAS IN THIS DOCUMENT.

Strengths and Interests – What do I like? What am I really good at? (At least 3)

Values – What do we think is important? What do we think is right and wrong?

Examples: Honesty, Kindness, Generosity, Good Manners, Loyalty, Determination, Creativity, Teamwork, Curiosity, Leadership, Patience, Trust, Acceptance, Cooperation

(3 or more – choose the “most important’ to you)

Personality – What are you like? How would someone describe you? (At least 3)

Where am I from? Culture / Language / Ethnicity / Religion (At least 2)

Gender Identity (1) – How do you identify?

Examples: Cisgender Male, Cisgender Female, Transgender Male, Transgender Female, Non-binary

 

STEP TWO: Decide how you want to share your identity (small poster, document, slide show/powerpoint, infographic, selfie art, or word art). If you choose infographic, selfie-art, or word art, there are special directions in the assignment drop box to help you out.

3 - APPLYING  - Student demonstrates a complete understanding of their identity and influences on it.

4 - EXTENDING - Student demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of their identity and influences on it. Assignment has exceptional detail and thoughtful word choices, reflecting advanced vocabulary or understanding of self and/or identity.

Submission Options:

  • Attach a computer document using this drop box.
  • Take a picture of your art and attach it using this drop box. If you have multiple pictures, embed them into one document before sending.
  • Scan and attach assignment as one big .pdf file.
  • Drop your work off with your teacher. (Also a great idea, but more difficult to return.)

If you have a new scanner and are trying to figure out the best way to scan your work for submission, here are some tips:

  • Paper Size: 8.5 x 11 inches (most typical - or can re-size later)
  • Colour Format: Grayscale (keeps file smaller then color, yet still clear)
  • File Type: PDF (best), or JPG (if PDF isn't available)
  • Resolution: 150 or 200 (can use 300 if small details don't show with 150/200)
