You have learned about oil and gas and how this resource contributed to the development of Canada. 

The three areas you learned about each include:

• How the discovery of oil and gas led to settlement in different areas of Canada.
• How oil and gas has contributed to the economy in Canada.
• How oil and gas activity has impacted First Nations people.

You will have three choices for an assignment.  Complete one choice and upload in the submission area below.

Assignment Choice A - Do an experiment.

Below is an experiment that gives you an idea of how the discovery of oil and gas reserves are found.  All information is the the worksheet. 

Marking:

Your submission includes:

• An image of you completing the experiment
• An image or scan of the graph paper map
• The math calculations based on the information found on the graph paper
• Thoughtful and thorough answers to the Conclusion questions

Assignment Choice B - Interview

Do you know someone that works in the oil and gas industry? 

If so, interview this person and ask at least 10 questions that are relevant to the industry.  Prepare your questions in advance so that you are ready when you sit down for the interview.  Record the answers as you are conducting the interview so that you do not miss any information. 

Once you have done the interview, put the questions and answers on a word document.  Write a paragraph about what you learned.  What was most interesting?  Did any of the information surprise you? 

Marking:

Your interview includes:

• Background information: Name of the person you interviewed, what job they do, your relationship to the person, and whether he/she travels for work, etc.
  
• Thoughtful questions about the job and the industry.
• Answers included as thoroughly as possible.
• Well written paragraph as a conclusion to the interview.
