Funding for museums and cultural centres can come from a variety of sources.  Sometimes, all three levels of government (federal, provincial and territorial, and municipal) contribute. 

In this assignment, you are going to go on an urban hike. You will be looking for, and visiting as many cultural places that you can find.  Take your camera and find out what your community has to offer!

You will not be able to attend all of the cultural events in your community as they may not be occurring while you are doing this assignment.  Use your computer as well to research cultural events that occur throughout the year. 

Take your research a step further to find out where the funding for these activities and services come from.  You can start by asking at your city or town hall. 

You can complete this assignment in many ways.  You can create a video, a slide show, or you can produce a report. 

Whatever you choose, your assignment must include:

• Images or video of the each thing.
• An explanation of what it is and which culture it is celebrating.
• A brief explanation about what you learned from it.
• Some information about how it is funded.
