You have learned about child labour globally and government roles to establish rules and regulations regarding child labour. You have also learned about child labour policies in Canada, particularly, in British Columbia.  

You will have 3 choices for this assignment.  For any of the choices, you are welcome to look further into child labour in any country. You may focus on one case, or look at the issue in that country in general. Complete one choice and upload in the submission area below.

Assignment Choice A - Create a Visual

Sometimes a visual representation of an issue can be more powerful than words alone.  For this choice, you will create some sort of visual about child labour.  You will need to provide some written background as well to explain your visual.  For example, who is in the visual? What is the visual showing? What country were you focusing on?  What is the title of your visual?

Some ideas for visuals:

• A poster about child labour
• A map demonstrating where child labour is a problem in the world
• A drawing/painting of an example of child labour

Take a picture of your visual and submit it below with your written explanation. You may get some ideas from looking into Craig Kielburger (and Free the Children), Iqbal Masih, Alaina Podmorow (Little Women for Little Women in Afghanistan), UNICEF, and/or Amnesty International Canada.

Assignment Choice B - My Child Labour Experience

Put yourself in the shoes of a person that was involved in child labour in some way. 

Your can choose to be any person, but some suggestions are:

• A child working in poor conditions.
• A parent that sold their child to become a child labourer or had their children working to help make ends meet.
• A factory owner that is involved in child labour.

Write a short story (include images),  series of diary entries, or letters or write and produce a play that discusses your personal experiences with child labour.   Make sure to start your entries/story at the time the child started working and include details of daily life.

Assignment Choice C - Putting an End to Child Labour

For this assignment, you will research any organization or person that works toward ending child labour.  You will discuss who they are, what they are doing to end child labour, and how effective their efforts are.  

You may represent what you have found in several ways.  

• You may write a report
• Create a power point or google slide presentation
• Create an informational pamphlet
• Write a series of newspaper reports to inform the public about this person's/organization's efforts to end child labour.
