4.6 - 4.10 Poetry Reading
Choose a poem from lessons 4.6 - 4.10 or a favourite poem you found during your independent reading time to practice reading aloud so you can send a recording to your teacher. Choose from:
- Dog
- Street Music
- Two haikus
- A poem you found for your Poetry Reading Journal
Assessment: 9 possible marks
Expression/ Volume:
3 - adjusts volume and tone of voice effective to show emotion and/or mood
2 - steady and easy to hear
1 - can’t always hear / sometimes monotone
Clarity/Enunciation:
3 - Words are spoken (articulated) clearly and pronounced well
2- Articulates most words correctly
1 - Slurs/mumbles/hurries pronunciation of some words / Beginning or end sounds of some words are not clearly pronounced.
Pace / Fluency:
3 – smooth and fluent
2 – few hesitations, mostly read fluently and smoothly, small hesitations are quickly solved.
1 - multiple attempts at some words or phrases, too slow or fast
How To Submit A Recording:
- On your computer, use a simple voice recording program (such as Audacity) or a web-based service (such as vocaroo.com) and send your teacher an mp3 or link.
- On a smartphone or tablet, use a video or voice recorder. Email or upload the recording.
- Record using a camera with video capabilities. Upload to your computer; then submit.
- Phone or meet with your teacher to present your poetry reading.
