An adverb usually modifies or qualifies the meaning of a verb.
Adverbs are added to sentences to tell where, when, why, how and how much.
i.e. Sometimes he plays golf with his Dad.
Why are you leaving?
They talked quietly for an hour.
An adverb's position in a sentence is very flexible.
i.e. He will leave soon.
Soon he will leave.
He will soon leave.
Most adverbs are formed by adding ly to the corresponding adjective.
i.e. That was a quick lunch. They ate their lunch quickly.
